baby on the farm

Missy just had her first foal born on mothers day in the early hours of the morning. there is much rejoicing at home and abroad as the family plays with the foal and then send me pictures so i can get excited and grieve over the fact that i won't see him for another three weeks. He is a little bay colt with a white star and an absolute doll...not that i know because i haven't seen him yet : ( but i will post some pics for my viewing public. his name is Hape's Quintessential Flash named after him mom, Hapes Nobel Miss and his dad, Tonic Flash and then his own little spice, Quintessential which means the embodiment of perfection. i can't wait to see him and hope you all love him as much as i do.

i just got back to south campus from an amazing weekend in flint, MI at the RCI (verity's first home). we drove up there on friday afternoon and spent friday night eating ice cream, cleaning rooms, and playing volleyball in the ballroom. on saturday morning, many of us woke up early to drive three hours to a local ski slope. i went skiing for my first time and totally LOVED it!! i kept going up and down the slopes all day and had a total and complete blast!! needless to say, i was quite exhausted that night when we finally arrived back at the RCI at midnight. sunday morning i went to hear a local pipe organ with my brother and then heard an amazing speaker talk on christian finances. we drove back to south campus sunday afternoon and then rested up to start classes again this morning! i have only three more test left before spring break and i can hardly wait!

well, i'm updating this for my amazing grandparents in california that want to know what i'm doing. i'm going to let them know because i love them and they're really nice and i miss them!

so this semester i've passed world religions, biology, and college math all by the grace of God and now i'm working on micro and macro economics. we've been ice skating,

sledding,

played volleyball, played ultimate, football games, indoor hockey, music jam sessions, the symphony, moved into our new rooms in building one, celebrated some birthday, watched the lunar eclipse, had some amazing days, had some horrible days, and leaned totally on God!! today we're all going to MI to do some work projects and the RCI and then enjoy an exciting day of skiing on saturday. this will be my first time skiing so i'm hoping to survive and make some great memories in the mean time!

God bless and i'll try to do some more updating...

its hard to believe that its less a week until i have to return to verity for my second semester there. its been perfectly fantastic being home on break even though its weird to think that this time is only a short break from a much bigger thing. i have enjoyed almost every bit of break but i could have enjoyed my Christmas without getting the flu, but then again, it did add a certain excitement! well here are a few pictures of things i enjoyed this break.

Bryce and Heathers wedding was a great time of fellowship and union watching...

it was great to hang out with lyndsae and brystol.

then thanksgiving with the matson crew was incredible!

then i enjoyed various other activities such as the amazing snow party with the heine girls.

and then back to the reckners for the flu and Christmas!!

there we enjoyed a civil war ball that was attended by many people from different walks in life!

these trips and then exciting times at home have made this break very enjoyable! i will miss my home when i go back but the Lord is good so have a happy new year!

this has been a very interesting time of life for me, I've been going through a lot of changes and making a lot of hard decision. in the meantime i have found myself troubled by a lot of the things that are happening around me and I began to realize that i was letting these things steal my joy. last night I was reading in ps. 51 and it says in verse 12, "Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit." because I have freedom in Christ, I do have joy that is the result of my salvation. God has been restoring my joy and giving me a willing spirit to serve Him!
